Mumbai, July 27 (NationPress) Actor Ruslaan Mumtaz has expressed his views on the rising censorship in the OTT space.
In an exclusive conversation with IANS, the star of 'Teree Sang' shared his happiness regarding the stricter regulations imposed on various OTT platforms.
Ruslaan mentioned, "There was a phase when OTT content leaned heavily towards western influences, often featuring explicit scenes merely for shock appeal. As performers, we aspire to create content that we can take pride in, something suitable for family viewing."
Emphasizing his stance on content moderation, he stated, "I fully support a censor that scrutinizes what is aired, particularly concerning sensitive themes."
Recently, the government has initiated a ban on several OTT platforms, including Ullu, ALTT, and Desiflix, due to the portrayal of soft pornographic material.
This ban affects 25 OTT platforms, such as Big Shots App, Boomex, Navarasa Lite, Gulab App, Kangan App, Bull App, Jalva App, Wow Entertainment, Look Entertainment, Hitprime, Feneo, ShowX, Sol Talkies, Adda TV, HotX VIP, Hulchul App, MoodX, NeonX VIP, Fugi, Mojflix, and Triflicks.
These applications have reportedly breached several laws, including Section 67 and Section 67A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, and Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
In related news, producer Ekta Kapoor clarified that neither she nor her mother, Shobha Kapoor, have any affiliations with ALTT in a professional capacity.
“Balaji Telefilms Limited, listed on the BSE and NSE, is a well-managed media company, and following the recent merger of ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd. (previously its wholly owned subsidiary), duly approved by the Hon’ble NCLT, it has been operating ALTT since June 20, 2025,” she mentioned on Instagram.
On the professional front, Ruslaan is preparing for the premiere of his upcoming show 'Tic Tac Timeout', where he will star alongside actress Leena Jumani.
