Bhubaneswar, Aug 30 (NationPress) Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy has praised the successful conclusion of the two-day National Conference of Chairpersons of SC and ST Welfare Committees, which took place on August 29-30 in Bhubaneswar. She described it as a historic milestone, marking the first time in 25 years that such an event was hosted outside of Delhi.
Padhy noted that the conference benefited from the insights of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Chairman, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and the Governor, highlighting its significance.
More than 200 representatives from 18 states came together for the conference, engaging in extensive discussions on effective practices adopted by various states, future initiatives, and the application of committee recommendations by state governments aimed at supporting the welfare of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
Emphasizing its importance, she mentioned that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla aptly referred to the conference as “Agenda 2025,” which will prioritize recommendations focusing on enhancing education, fostering economic empowerment, and ensuring the effective execution of welfare programs for SCs, STs, and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
“The ultimate aim is the upliftment and comprehensive development of marginalized communities throughout India,” Padhy stated.
Additionally, Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy characterized her visit to the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri as a spiritually enriching experience, referring to it as a moment of divine grace.
Padhy, who was part of the Parliamentary Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes alongside chairpersons and members from 18 state legislatures, expressed that the temple visit was the most anticipated aspect of their two-day national conference in Bhubaneswar.
“Following the conference's conclusion, delegates were eager to visit the Konark Sun Temple and seek the darshan of Lord Jagannath. Over 200 delegates, many accompanied by their spouses, participated in the pilgrimage. For several, it was their first darshan of Lord Jagannath, creating a truly unforgettable moment,” Speaker Padhy remarked.
