During his inaugural speech at the 22nd Foundation Day of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, delivered via video conference, the L-G emphasized that the university has gained recognition, both nationally and globally, as a leading institution.
He stated, “Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is instrumental in producing human resources aligned with global dynamics. Throughout its evolution, the university has flourished into an institution of excellence, fostering intellect and changing lives,”
he remarked.
Furthermore, he announced the fulfillment of a long-standing demand from the non-teaching staff of the university, specifically those in lower middle-level positions and below.
As per the approved changes, all non-teaching personnel in this category, who were previously under a five-year contract system with renewals, will now be regularized, eliminating the contract system.
“This decision underscores our commitment to equity, talent retention, and career advancement. This initiative will fortify the foundation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and instill a renewed sense of job security among employees, empowering them to contribute to the university's growth with enhanced confidence and dedication,”
the L-G noted.
He also congratulated the university's management, faculty, staff, and students for achieving a position among the top 100 universities in the nation in a relatively short time frame.
“It is truly motivating to witness the university's evolution into a multi-disciplinary institution, aligning with the National Education Policy. The growing enrollment in innovative programs such as Design Your Own Degree, B.Tech-Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and MSc Data Science is commendable,”
he added. The Lieutenant Governor urged faculty members to cultivate a skill-oriented learning environment on campus, emphasizing the responsibility to prepare the next wave of innovators, entrepreneurs, architects, and skilled professionals.
He also inspired students to utilize the skills and knowledge gained at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University in the service of nation-building.
He remarked that the development of India and societal welfare are the true measures of educational effectiveness.
He encouraged alumni to address societal needs and assist in enhancing the university. Additionally, the L-G paid tribute to the lives lost in recent natural disasters in Kishtwar and Kathua, stating that relief efforts are ongoing with a comprehensive government approach.
