Kohima, Oct 6 (NationPress) The Nagaland division of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officially became a part of the extensive Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan on Monday. The initiative aims to rejuvenate the Swadeshi spirit by motivating citizens to support and promote products manufactured in India, thereby bolstering the local economy.

This nationwide campaign commenced on September 25 in Delhi and is designed to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of achieving self-reliance for the nation.

During the event at the state BJP headquarters in Kohima, Yanthungo Patton, the leader of the BJP Legislature Party and Deputy Chief Minister, emphasized that this campaign reaffirms the Swadeshi pledge, which he described as the cornerstone of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

He pointed out that following the initial years after India's independence, which leaned towards import dependency, the Swadeshi spirit was revived in 1964 by RSS Pracharak Dattopant Thengadi, who accentuated the necessity of economic self-sufficiency as a matter of national security.

The Deputy Chief Minister further explained how this legacy transformed into the Atmanirbhar Bharat movement in 1991 and has gained renewed vigor under Prime Minister Modi through initiatives like Make in India, Startup India, Digital India, and Vocal for Local.

He noted that these initiatives have fortified three essential pillars of national development: Swadeshi (advocacy of Indian goods), Swabhasha (promotion of Indian languages and indigenous knowledge), and Swabhusha (heritage, design, and aesthetics), forming the basis for a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

Patton also commended India's achievements in recent years, recalling how the nation swiftly adapted during the Covid-19 pandemic, transitioning from having no production of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to manufacturing millions of PPE kits, ventilators, and vaccines in a matter of months.

Patton highlighted that India has already met its renewable energy goal of sourcing 50% of its installed capacity from green energy by 2025.
