Mumbai, Oct 16 (NationPress) Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar and filmmaker Pan Nalin have been appointed as jury members for the 6th edition of the All Living Things Environmental Film Festival, set to commence on December 4.

Reflecting on her role in the jury, Shriya expressed to IANS: “Participating in ALT EFF this year is profoundly significant. As artists, we frequently discuss the ability of cinema to unite individuals, but what I truly appreciate about this festival is its capacity to transform that power into awareness and empathy that can drive genuine change. The environment is not a remote concern; it’s intertwined with our daily existence, our health, and our future.”

She continued, “ALT EFF serves as a beautiful reminder of how narratives can broaden perspectives and inspire a sense of responsibility for our shared world. Experiencing some remarkable films throughout this process has already been an enlightening and humbling journey.”

The festival, spanning 11 days, will conclude on December 14. It will kick off in Mumbai on December 4, featuring a compelling selection of feature films, documentaries, short films, and student films from India and various countries, highlighting themes such as environment, sustainability, conservation, and climate change.

Filmmaker Pan Nalin, acclaimed for his notable works like Samsara and The Last Film Show, shared with IANS: “The environment has always been central to my narratives. From the deserts of Kutch to the peaks of the Himalayas, nature has influenced my journey as a filmmaker and as a human. ALT EFF transcends being merely a festival; it’s a collective movement that rekindles our connection with the earth.”

Nalin described the festival as a venue where “art and activism converge, and where filmmakers and dreamers unite to share stories that provoke reflection, inquiry, and emotion.”

“I eagerly anticipate discovering films that challenge us to pause, to observe more acutely, and to recognize what we stand to lose if we stop heeding nature.”
