Los Angeles, March 20 (NationPress) Singer Sia has initiated divorce proceedings against her second husband Daniel Bernad after a marriage lasting two years.
The 49-year-old artist, born Sia Furler, recently ended her relationship with her spouse and filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Wednesday, as reported by People magazine.
The 'Chandelier' creator has cited "irreconcilable differences" as the basis for their split, according to femalefirst.co.uk.
Documents filed in court also indicate that the chart-topping singer has quietly welcomed her third child, her first with Bernad, on March 27, 2024.
Sia, who adopted two teenage boys in 2019, is currently pursuing legal and physical custody of their infant son, but she is willing to allow visitation rights for her estranged husband.
She formally married Daniel in December 2022, and the couple held an intimate candlelit wedding ceremony in Portofino, Italy in May 2023, attended by only six guests.
The “Cheap Thrills” artist has not publicly commented on the birth of her third child, but she did mention previously that she adopted two teenage sons in 2019.
In a SiriusXM interview in 2020, she stated: "I actually adopted two sons last year. They were both 18 — they’re both 19 years old now. They were ageing out of the foster care system. Yeah, and I love them."
Despite this, Sia recognized that the adjustment process for her sons has not been easy.
Sia, who was previously married to Erik Anders Lang from 2014 to 2016, explained: "They are both finding it pretty difficult, one more so than the other. But they’re both doing things that are really good for them right now, that are really helpful. They’re really doing a lot of educational stuff that’s good for them."
Sia began her career as a vocalist in the acid jazz band Crisp during the mid-1990s. After the band's disbandment in 1997, she launched her debut studio album, OnlySee, in Australia.
She later moved to London and contributed her vocals to the British duo Zero 7.
In 2001, Sia released her second studio album titled Healing Is Difficult, followed by her third album, Colour the Small One, in 2004.
