Bagalkot (Karnataka), March 23 (NationPress) Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his firm belief that the populace will secure a win for the Congress party in the upcoming by-elections in Bagalkot and Davanagere, emphasizing the party's dedication to social justice.

Addressing the press in Bagalkot, he announced that Umesh Meti has officially submitted his nomination as the Congress candidate for the Bagalkot Assembly by-poll and extended his heartfelt wishes to him.

“The late H.Y. Meti was a beloved figure in this area, and his untimely passing was indeed a significant loss. Hence, we have reached a consensus to nominate a family member to fill the void left by his absence,” he remarked.

He highlighted that the government has fulfilled its commitments and has rolled out beneficial schemes during the periods of 2013-2018 and currently from 2023.

The promises laid out in the election manifesto are being effectively executed, with an investment of Rs 1.21 lakh crore.

“Despite the BJP's claims that these promises were unachievable, our government remains dedicated to social justice. The citizens of Karnataka are pleased with the Congress's commitments, which became evident in our significant victories in previous by-elections,” he stated.

He accused the BJP of concentrating solely on Hindutva and neglecting any development initiatives concerning the Upper Krishna Project Phase-3 during its administration.

The current government is committed to providing fair compensation for lands that will be submerged under the project, with necessary funds allocated in this year's budget.

A significant compensation amounting to Rs 70,000 crore will be disbursed in one phase to initiate this long-awaited project, he mentioned.

He added that establishing a government medical college in Bagalkot was a vision of the late H.Y. Meti.

This initiative aims to allow rural students to obtain medical education while also offering quality healthcare to the local population. Meti played a crucial role in advancing the development of the Bagalkot district.

He expressed confidence that voters will rally behind Congress candidate Umesh Meti in the by-election.

He claimed that the public has dismissed the BJP's misinformation and has turned away from the party.

“The BJP is fundamentally built on falsehoods. The populace has rejected the BJP,” he asserted, expressing strong confidence in the Congress's prospects for victory in both the Davanagere and Bagalkot by-elections.

Point of View

It is clear that Siddaramaiah's statements reflect a strong confidence in the Congress party's position ahead of the by-elections. His emphasis on social justice and the fulfillment of promises aims to resonate with voters, contrasting sharply with the BJP's approach. The outcome of these elections could significantly influence Karnataka's political landscape.
