Bagalkot, March 31 (NationPress) On his second day of campaigning for the Bagalkot Assembly bye-election, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah engaged the public in Mugulolli village. During this campaign meeting, he unveiled a booklet named 'Pragatiya Pakshinota', showcasing the developmental efforts of H.Y. Meti and rallied support for Congress candidate Umesh Meti.
Attendees included Minister R.B. Timmapur, former Legislative Council Chairman S.R. Patil, MLAs Yashavantrayagouda Patil, Hampanagouda Badarli, Vijayanand Kashappanavar, and ex-minister Ajaykumar Saranayak.
While addressing the media, CM Siddaramaiah claimed that Umesh Meti is garnering significant public backing in the Bagalkot Assembly bye-election.
He emphasized that the political climate favors the Congress party. The late H.Y. Meti was dedicated to the advancement of Bagalkote, serving all community segments.
Describing Meti as a universally respected leader, Siddaramaiah noted that following his passing, his son, Umesh Meti, has been nominated as the Congress candidate, expressing optimism for his success.
Additionally, he mentioned that in the Davanagere South Assembly constituency, party member Pylwan Sadiq has agreed to withdraw from the race, and Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan will join the campaign efforts.
In response to BJP's claims that his extensive campaigning indicates fear of defeat, Siddaramaiah countered, asserting it is the BJP leaders who are expressing fear of losing. He reiterated that it is customary within the Congress party to nominate family members of deceased legislators, a practice upheld in both Davanagere and Bagalkote.
When addressing BJP leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy's comments regarding his position, Siddaramaiah expressed his commitment to the party's high command and refrained from engaging with BJP's remarks.
Furthermore, he accused the BJP of neglecting to establish a medical college in Bagalkote during their administration and failing to prioritize compensation for farmers under the Upper Krishna Project. According to Siddaramaiah, H.Y. Meti's legacy in advancing Bagalkote is unmatched.
