Bengaluru, March 10 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah extended his warm congratulations to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on the occasion of his sixth anniversary as the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), commending his exceptional organizational skills and unwavering dedication to the party.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Shivakumar’s remarkable leadership, ideological steadfastness, and diligence serve as an exemplary model for the younger generation of Congress leaders.
Siddaramaiah noted that despite encountering numerous obstacles, including what he termed as false allegations leveled by the opposition BJP and various forms of intimidation, Shivakumar has displayed unwavering loyalty and resilience towards the party.
“This is a testament to his unwavering commitment to the Congress party. His actions have served as an inspiration for countless Congress workers,” remarked the Chief Minister.
He added that Shivakumar has worked tirelessly alongside party leaders and members to counter what he described as communal threats and to restore the Congress party's position of power in the state.
Siddaramaiah further emphasized that Shivakumar has stood “shoulder to shoulder” with him in the mission to reconstruct Karnataka, ensuring it remains a bastion of peace and harmony for all communities.
The Chief Minister also expressed his belief that Shivakumar, being younger, possesses a promising political future, and expressed optimism that the Congress party would reclaim power in 2028.
“It is our collective aspiration for the Congress party to regain power in 2028. I also pledge to contribute to the party's organizational efforts and struggles to realize this ambition,” he stated.
In the Assembly, Shivakumar defended Chief Minister Siddaramaiah against criticisms from Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka, who targeted the State Budget 2026–27.
Shivakumar criticized the BJP’s protest with empty vessels on the day the Budget was unveiled, stating, “You brought empty vessels to Vidhana Soudha to protest even before the Budget presentation. This reflects your mindset. We deem Nirmala Sitharaman’s Budget as an empty vessel.”
Senior BJP MLA and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Arvind Bellad remarked that Shivakumar’s support for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah hinted at promising developments.
To this, Shivakumar responded, “There’s no need for you to fantasize about that.”
BJP State General Secretary and MLA V. Sunil Kumar mocked Shivakumar, stating he did not participate in any preliminary Budget meetings chaired by Siddaramaiah.
“I have not seen a single remark from you (Shivakumar) regarding the State Budget. What is going on now? You didn’t attend the Budget meetings for your two significant departments. There’s no media coverage either supporting or criticizing Siddaramaiah’s Budget,” he commented.
Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka mentioned that whatever Shivakumar had to say, he had already communicated in New Delhi.
