Bengaluru, July 12 (NationPress) Addressing the ongoing discord within the Congress party, Karnataka BJP President and legislator B.Y. Vijayendra remarked that the connection between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress high command has significantly weakened.
In a media briefing on Saturday, he stated, "Recently, both Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar traveled to Delhi. However, Siddaramaiah had to return to Karnataka without securing an audience with the Congress high command or Rahul Gandhi. This clearly suggests that the relationship between the Chief Minister and the high command has indeed soured."
“There is already an ominous atmosphere surrounding the state government. It’s uncertain when tumult will strike—let’s remain vigilant,” he remarked.
“It is evident that all is not well within the Congress party and the administration. A struggle continues between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, alongside a competition for the CM’s position. This internal conflict is failing to address the concerns of the populace,” he added.
He commented that Siddaramaiah returning without meeting Rahul Gandhi is a troubling sign. “We will observe what events unfold. There is a palpable concern of a potential upheaval within the Congress party and the government. This is why various statements are being issued to distract the public—it’s all a political maneuver,” he stated when asked for his opinion.
He expressed that governance in the state has deteriorated. "There’s an internal battle among MLAs and leaders regarding who should lead as CM, while ordinary citizens are suffering in the process."
“We are content to remain in opposition for the next three years. We harbor no concerns regarding this. We will regain power in 2028 based solely on our own capabilities; there is no need to ally with these individuals,” he said when asked about their political strategy.
“Let’s wait and observe what kind of transformation or significant upheaval will unfold in November. One thing is certain—conflict has erupted within the ruling party. We’ll see who it ultimately affects,” he stated in response to another inquiry.
It is noteworthy that recently, Minister for Cooperation K. N. Rajanna, a close ally of CM Siddaramaiah, indicated that a significant change within state politics is imminent, alluding to the discord within the ruling Congress party.
“We will persist in opposing this government. The public is also preparing to take a stand. Whether this government sustains or collapses, or whether the CM is replaced—none of this will influence the state’s progress. Hence, the populace remains indifferent to these developments,” he declared.
“I have met with our party leaders in Delhi. Everything is on track,” he affirmed when questioned about the party’s direction.
On Union Minister for Jal Shakti and Railways V. Somanna, he stated, “He is a Union minister, a senior leader dedicated to the party and its interests. He will diligently work to address issues.”
In response to a query regarding reconciling former minister B. Sriramulu and Janardhana Reddy, he said, “If discussions arise on that topic, it is welcomed. If feasible, I will also strive to be involved in those efforts.”
He also touched on the ongoing strike by municipal workers in the state. “Over 30,000 employees from various municipal corporations have taken to the streets in protest. It is the duty of the state government and the Chief Minister to meet their legitimate demands.
Due to a lack of progress, citizens are already suffering. Simultaneously, even the basic needs of workers are unmet, causing hardship for the general public in urban areas. The Chief Minister must urgently address these issues,” he urged.
