Bhopal, Sep 24 (NationPress) The Consul General of Singapore, Cheong Ming Foong, visited the residence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday to explore "current collaborations" and "new opportunities" for investment.
During their discussions, they focused on enhancing the trade and economic partnership between Singapore and Madhya Pradesh.
Post-meeting, Chief Minister Yadav shared on his official social media account X, "Today, the Consul General of Singapore Mr. Cheong Ming Foong, honored me with a visit to my residence in Bhopal. We had an in-depth discussion about investment in the state."
Singapore's Embassy also posted on X, "This morning, we met with Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav to discuss strengthening our partnership, building on existing collaborations in skills development and renewable energy, while exploring exciting new opportunities."
Importantly, the Madhya Pradesh government is eager to attract significant investments from Singaporean companies in the green energy sector. A proposal for such investment was initially discussed in 2024, when the High Commissioner of Singapore to India, Simon Wang, met with Chief Minister Yadav.
Additionally, a proposal for investment from Singapore was presented during the Madhya Pradesh government's Regional Industrial Conclave (RIC) in Ujjain last year.
Last year, during his visit to Singapore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with his counterpart Lawrence Wong, along with notable leaders like Lee Hsien Loong and Goh Chok Tong.
Prime Minister Modi also connected with Singaporean business magnates and toured AEM, a firm in the semiconductor industry.
Furthermore, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam made a State Visit to India from January 14-18, accompanied by Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat and Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sim Ann.
Alongside meetings with President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi, various cabinet ministers also engaged with the Singaporean President.
