Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Dec 14 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister M.K. Stalin called upon the DMK cadre on Sunday to disseminate the successes of the Dravidian model government to every household in the state, emphasizing that turning these achievements into votes is essential. He asserted that consistent grassroots efforts would be pivotal for the party's success in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.
While attending the family wedding of former State Minister P. Palaniappan in Dharmapuri district, CM Stalin stated that the welfare schemes and development milestones of the state government must be directly communicated to the populace.
He highlighted the Vellum Tamil Pengal program that took place in Chennai on Saturday, noting it facilitated the inclusion of an additional 17 lakh women under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, which provides financial support to women.
“Any eligible woman who has not yet received assistance should apply. The benefits of this scheme will continue to expand,” CM Stalin remarked.
On the same day, a report from the Reserve Bank of India ranked Tamil Nadu as the leading state in the nation for Gross State Domestic Product growth.
CM Stalin pointed out that these accomplishments were achieved despite numerous challenges.
He also mentioned the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, stressing the DMK cadre's unwavering commitment to protecting voting rights.
“We have only completed half of the work. There is a long journey ahead until the results of the 2026 elections are declared. The DMK is poised to secure power for the seventh time, continuing Tamil Nadu's development,” he asserted.
During the gathering, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalavan emphasized the necessity for a significant victory in the 2026 elections to safeguard Tamil Nadu, its land, and the Tamil language.
He alleged that there were efforts to undermine the DMK-led alliance’s prospects, stating that the Dravidian movements, along with the VCK and Left parties, were collectively resisting such moves.
Thirumavalavan referred to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s assertion that the NDA would triumph in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, warning that such claims should not be overlooked.
He accused the NDA of attempting to manipulate election outcomes, citing recent political events in other states.
Stressing the importance of organizational strength, he declared that the DMK possesses a robust booth-level structure unlike any other political party.
Former State Secretary of the Communist Party of India, R. Mutharasan, mentioned that while political alliances in Tamil Nadu have often been ephemeral, the current DMK alliance has remained strong for a decade, which he deemed a significant achievement.
He expressed optimism that the alliance would maintain its hold on power in 2026, with Stalin continuing as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
