Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Dec 14 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister M.K. Stalin called upon the DMK cadre on Sunday to disseminate the successes of the Dravidian model government into every home across the state, aiming to transform these achievements into votes. He emphasized that ongoing grassroots efforts would play a crucial role in ensuring the party's victory in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.
During a family wedding of former State Minister P. Palaniappan in Dharmapuri, CM Stalin highlighted the importance of communicating the state government's welfare programs and development achievements directly to the populace.
He referred to the Vellum Tamil Pengal initiative held in Chennai the previous day, which successfully included an additional 17 lakh women under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, providing them with monthly financial support.
"Any eligible woman who has not yet availed of the assistance should apply, as benefits under the scheme will continue to grow," CM Stalin stated.
Additionally, he mentioned a report from the Reserve Bank of India that positioned Tamil Nadu as the nation's top-performing state in terms of Gross State Domestic Product growth.
Stalin affirmed that these accomplishments were achieved despite facing numerous challenges.
He also touched upon the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, stressing the relentless efforts of DMK cadre to protect voting rights.
"Only half of the work is completed thus far. We still have a long journey ahead until the 2026 election results are announced. The DMK will secure power for the seventh time, and Tamil Nadu’s development will persist," he declared.
While addressing the crowd, Thol. Thirumavalavan, leader of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, emphasized the need for a substantial victory in the 2026 elections to preserve Tamil Nadu, its land, and the Tamil language.
He voiced concerns over attempts to undermine the DMK-led alliance's prospects, asserting that the Dravidian movements, along with the VCK and Left parties, were collectively countering these threats.
Thirumavalavan also referenced Union Home Minister Amit Shah's assertion that the NDA would triumph in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, cautioning that such declarations should not be overlooked.
He accused the NDA of trying to manipulate elections, referencing recent political shifts in other states.
Underlining organizational strength, he noted that the DMK boasts a solid booth-level setup unmatched by other parties.
R. Mutharasan, former State secretary of the Communist Party of India, remarked that while political alliances in Tamil Nadu have often been fleeting, the current DMK alliance has steadfastly remained united for a decade, which he considered a major achievement.
He expressed optimism that the alliance would maintain power in 2026, with Stalin continuing as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister.
