Mumbai, Feb 16 (NationPress) The political atmosphere in Maharashtra is undergoing a significant transformation as newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar embarks on her official responsibilities. She has arrived from Baramati and called for a meeting at her official residence 'Devgiri' this evening.

Set for 6:00 p.m., this meeting marks a significant legislative step under Sunetra Pawar's leadership since her election as the legislature party leader and her swearing-in on January 31, following the departure of Ajit Pawar. The meeting is attracting considerable attention from various political factions as she seeks to solidify her influence within the government and the party.

A senior leader from the NCP remarked, "All Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Legislative Council (MLCs) associated with the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) have received strict orders to attend the meeting, which is scheduled just a week prior to the state legislature's budget session commencing on February 23 in Mumbai. The primary focus will be on establishing organizational discipline, assessing the current political landscape, and devising a strategy for upcoming challenges while emphasizing the need to rebuild and fortify the party structure. Additionally, coordination with the BJP, which leads the Mahayuti government, will also be a key topic of discussion.

A pivotal point of discussion this evening will be the bribery allegations concerning Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal. The situation has left Zirwal in a vulnerable position, particularly after he reportedly became "unreachable" on Saturday morning, igniting widespread speculation.

With opposition parties calling for his resignation, Zirwal is expected to meet with Sunetra Pawar on Monday to share his perspective with the Core Committee. Leadership will assess the details of the case to finalize the party's official response.

Beyond the immediate issues, another NCP leader hinted that the party is preparing for a substantial internal overhaul. "Discussions about appointing a new National President are anticipated to be a primary focus. The date and location for the upcoming National Executive meeting may be confirmed today, with the entire selection and restructuring process likely to conclude within two weeks," he stated.

NCP working president Praful Patel announced last Friday that Sunetra Pawar would become the NCP national president in the next fortnight, being the sole candidate. He also indicated that he is not contesting for the national president position.
