Army Day is commemorated annually on 15 January in India, honoring Lieutenant General Kodandera M. Cariappa, who became the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army after taking over from General Francis Roy Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1949.
The celebration includes parades and military displays in the national capital New Delhi and at various headquarters across the country.
On the film front, Sunny will next feature in “Border 2,” alongside Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahaan Shetty.
This film, directed by Anurag Singh, serves as a sequel to the 1997 epic war film “Border,” which recounts the Battle of Longewala (1971). The original film, directed by J. P. Dutta, is set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and features a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee.
“Border 2” is supported by a formidable production team that includes Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. Presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in collaboration with JP Dutta’s J.P. Films and directed by Anurag Singh, the sequel aims to uphold the legacy of the iconic original while providing a grand cinematic experience.
‘Border 2’ appears to center around the 1999 Kargil War. In early 1999, Pakistani troops crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and claimed Indian territory, primarily in the Kargil district.
