Jaipur, April 8 (NationPress) A hit-and-run incident involving a high-speed SUV operated by a drunk factory owner caused mayhem on the streets of Jaipur, resulting in the death of three individuals and leaving six others injured.

The vehicle raced uncontrollably for seven kilometers through a bustling section of the city, leading to considerable devastation. The runaway SUV collided with nine pedestrians and cyclists, which culminated in three fatalities, including a woman. Six others suffered severe injuries in this tragic event that took place around 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

As per police reports, the initial alert was about a high-speed vehicle crashing into cars on MI Road. The SUV then continued into the narrow streets of the city, with the most significant damage occurring in the Nahargarh police station area. Approximately one kilometer from there, the car became lodged in the narrow pathways, where locals assisted the police in capturing the driver.

The driver was identified as 62-year-old Usman Khan.

Additional DCP (North) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat confirmed that the accused driver, Khan, caused extensive damage within a 500-meter stretch. He initially collided with a scooter near Santosh Mata Mandir in the Nahargarh area before fleeing after running over pedestrians who had fallen onto the roadway. The driver also crashed into parked vehicles outside the police station.

The victims were identified as Virendra Singh (48), Mamta Kanwar (50), and Monesh Soni (28), who sustained serious injuries. Mohammad Jalaluddin (44), a resident of Manbag Khor Sharda Colony, also suffered injuries in the accident. Meanwhile, Deepika Saini (17), Vijay Narayan (65), Zebunnisha (50), Anshika (24), and Awadhesh Pareek (37) were rushed to the hospital, where Mamta Kanwar and Awadhesh Pareek were declared dead.

Tragically, Virendra Singh succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning.

The condition of the seven injured individuals struck by the vehicle on Nahargarh Road remains critical, and they are receiving treatment in the trauma ward at Sawai Mansingh Hospital (SMS).

The accused, Usman Khan, underwent a late-night medical examination, which revealed that he was heavily intoxicated. Khan, who resides in Rana Colony of Shastri Nagar, Jaipur, owns a factory that manufactures iron beds in the Vishwakarma Industrial Area.

The family of the deceased woman, Mamta Kanwar, has filed an FIR against him. In response to this incident, local residents are furious, prompting police from four stations to be deployed around Nahargarh Road and its surroundings to uphold order.
