DCP West Rajarshi Verma stated, "An Audi was traveling from Vande Mataram Circle towards Dharvas Circle at high speed. It collided with some roadside stalls, resulting in one fatality. Currently, at least 12 individuals are hospitalized for treatment. Thankfully, all the injured are out of danger, and none remain in critical condition. Besides the driver, three other passengers were in the car. One has been detained, while the other three have been identified and will be apprehended shortly."
He further mentioned that preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding was the primary cause of the crash, although inquiries regarding potential intoxication are still ongoing.
One of the injured, identified as Ramesh Bairwa from Bhilwara, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Officials noted that the Audi contained four individuals, all of whom were reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
While one person has been arrested, the other three fled the scene promptly after the crash.
The driver of the Audi has been recognized as Dinesh Ranwan.
The vehicle involved in the incident has been confiscated, and law enforcement teams are actively searching for the remaining suspects.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed sorrow over the tragedy and instructed officials to ensure that the injured receive proper medical care.
Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar also visited the hospital to check on the condition of those injured in the incident.
In a statement to IANS, Deputy CM Bairwa remarked, "At the scene, there were several roadside stalls and vegetable carts. A car with four occupants, bearing a different registration number, had arrived there. The occupants have been identified, and initial investigations are underway."
He confirmed that one individual had died, while the remaining injured are receiving treatment at SMS Hospital.
Further, he indicated that details regarding the car's speed, the driver's possible intoxication, and other circumstances surrounding the event are under police scrutiny.
Minister of the Medical and Health Department, Gajendra Singh Khimsar, told IANS, "I received a call from the Chief Minister, who was quite concerned. He instructed me to go immediately and submit a report. He mentioned that one individual has died and the situation is somewhat critical, but not extremely so. The rest are hospitalized across three facilities and are receiving care. The police are also looking into the ownership of the vehicle and the driver."
