Jaipur, Nov 3 (NationPress) A tragic incident occurred in the Harmara region of Jaipur on Monday, resulting in the loss of three lives and leaving numerous individuals injured after a speeding dumper careened out of control and collided with multiple vehicles.
The number of fatalities may increase as several victims are reported to be in critical condition.
As per police reports, the incident transpired around 1 p.m. close to Loha Mandi in the VKI (Vishwakarma Industrial Area).
The dumper, which was allegedly en route to the Loha Mandi petrol pump on Highway 14, lost its brakes and crashed into approximately ten vehicles, comprising both cars and motorcycles.
Witnesses recounted the scene as horrifying. The dumper, traveling at an alarming speed, collided with vehicle after vehicle before it finally came to a stop following a deafening crash. The force of the collision was so intense that several vehicles were severely damaged, with debris strewn across the roadway.
Local residents and bystanders quickly came together with police and rescue personnel to assist the injured. Victims were swiftly transported to the SMS Hospital Trauma Center and Kanwatia Hospital via ambulances and private cars.
The management at SMS Hospital has activated emergency protocols, with trauma teams and medical staff prepared to manage the influx of casualties from the scene.
The severity of the collision left a harrowing scene—twisted metal from cars, wrecked motorcycles, and bodies near the debris. Police rapidly cordoned off the area as a large crowd gathered, which obstructed rescue efforts.
Traffic was redirected to alternative routes to alleviate congestion on the heavily traveled highway. Authorities have taken possession of the deceased and transported them to the mortuary at Kanwatia Hospital for autopsies.
The dumper has been cleared from the accident scene, and an investigation is underway to ascertain whether the vehicle was overloaded or exceeding speed limits.
More information is anticipated.
In the meantime, authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, particularly in industrial zones where heavy vehicle traffic is prevalent.
