The region of Jammu and Kashmir features a 740-km-long Line of Control (LoC) situated in the Kupwara, Bandipora, and Baramulla districts of the Kashmir Valley, as well as parts of Poonch, Rajouri, and Jammu districts.
Furthermore, the Union Territory has a 240-km-long International Border located within the Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts.
The Army is responsible for safeguarding the LoC, while the BSF oversees the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir.
Both the Army and the BSF are stationed at the borders to prevent infiltration, exfiltration, and drug trafficking across the LoC and International Border.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with security forces, conduct operations against terrorists and their associates in the region.
