Joint Patrol Operations by J&K Police and BSF Along the International Border in Samba

Jammu, December 6 (NationPress) Personnel from J&K Police and troopers from the Border Security Force (BSF) executed coordinated patrols along the international border (IB) in Samba district on Friday, as reported by officials.
Officials indicated that the collaboration between J&K Police and BSF was aimed at reinforcing the security framework along the IB.
SSP Samba, Virinder Singh Manhas, along with the Commandants of the BSF's 65th and 159th Battalions, took part in this meticulous patrolling initiative to evaluate security readiness and key sites along the India-Pakistan border in the Ghagwal-Samba sector. The joint teams scrutinized various waterways, culverts, and canals to pinpoint possible vulnerabilities in the area. They also engaged with local community members to bolster police-community collaboration and promote prompt reporting of any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies, stated an official.
During the patrol, the officers engaged with the jawans and urged them to maintain heightened vigilance and caution in their duties to prevent any untoward incidents.
Various security parameters and strategies were also deliberated upon to further enhance the border security framework in the district, according to the official.
Officials mentioned that ADGP Jammu, Anand Jain, visited the Special Operations Group (SOG) camps located in the Bani-Machedi axis near Kathua to assess the operational readiness in the district.
The ADGP was joined by Inspector General CRPF, Jammu Sector, R. Gopala Krishna Rao, and SSP Kathua, Shobhit Saxena. The ADGP reviewed the infrastructure, equipment, and training facilities at the SOG camps situated in Lowang and Duggaini. He interacted with SOG personnel and evaluated the security measures, counter-insurgency tactics, and readiness to tackle emerging challenges in the border district. The ADGP instructed the personnel to remain alert and implement proactive strategies to avert crime and terrorism. He encouraged the teams to uphold high standards of readiness, professionalism, and collaboration with other security units to ensure the safety of the region, an official stated.
Security measures along the borders in Jammu have been intensified to prevent any infiltration attempts by terrorists during the winter season, the official remarked.
This comes in light of intelligence reports suggesting that terrorist handlers across the Line of Control (LoC) are attempting to infiltrate terrorists into J&K before heavy snowfall leads to the closure of mountain passes. The LoC between India and Pakistan spans 740 km, while the IB measures 192 km in J&K.
