Jammu, July 24 (NationPress) Troopers from the Border Security Force (BSF) have been actively engaged in a search operation along the international border (IB) following reports of suspected infiltration in the R.S. Pura sector of Jammu district.
The search efforts commenced late on Wednesday night and persisted into the early hours of Thursday, as BSF officials reported.
During the operation, troopers conducted systematic searches in forward villages, agricultural lands, and dense foliage adjacent to the border fence.
"An infiltration alert was issued throughout the R.S. Pura and Arnia sectors, leading to enhanced night patrolling and surveillance measures. Additional personnel, canine units, and thermal imaging devices were deployed to detect any movement across the border," stated a BSF official.
To support ground troops in navigating challenging terrain, drone surveillance was also utilized. This increased activity arises amid ongoing concerns regarding potential terrorist attempts to exploit vulnerable areas of the border in light of upcoming national events and festivals.
Residents living near the zero line have been urged to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest security post.
According to the BSF official, although there were no reports of contact or gunfire during the search, the alert status will remain in effect for the coming days.
"All border outposts have been placed on high alert, and collaboration with other intelligence and security agencies has been intensified to ensure a comprehensive multi-tiered defense strategy," an official remarked.
In the wake of the April 22 attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, J&K Police and security forces have ramped up anti-terror operations targeting terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers to dismantle the entire ecosystem of terror in J&K.
