Jammu, April 5 (NationPress) A Pakistani intruder was shot dead on Saturday by the Border Security Force (BSF) at the international border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir.

A spokesperson for the BSF stated that the infiltration attempt was thwarted near the Abdulian border outpost in the R.S. Pura sector of Jammu district.

“During the night of April 4 and 5, vigilant BSF personnel detected suspicious movement in the Jammu border region, observing an intruder crossing the IB,” the spokesperson mentioned.

“The intruder was warned by the troops but disregarded the orders and continued advancing.”

“Sensing a potential threat, the BSF personnel neutralized the intruder. Currently, the identity and intentions of the intruder are being investigated,” the spokesperson added, noting that a formal protest has been lodged with the Pakistani authorities.

The body of the intruder has been turned over to the police for necessary legal procedures.

Heightened surveillance is being maintained along the IB and the line of control (LoC) in J&K following the sighting of five terrorists on March 23 in Sanyal village, located just 4 km from the IB.

Two of the five terrorists were killed in a police encounter, while joint forces have launched extensive operations in the Kathua and Rajouri districts to locate the remaining terrorists.

Four police officers lost their lives during the initial operation against the terrorists in Sanyal village, with three others, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police, sustaining injuries. The injured are currently in stable condition and receiving treatment.

Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha visited the families of the fallen policemen from the Sanyal encounter, paying tribute to the martyrs and assuring the families that the nation stands united with them in this difficult time.

On the previous day, there was a brief exchange of gunfire in the Billawar area of Kathua district between joint forces and the terrorists.

It remains uncertain whether the terrorists involved in the Billawar gunfire are the same ones who escaped from Sanyal and later from Safiyan Jakhole villages within the Kathua district.
