Jammu, Dec 12 (NationPress) An armed intruder was detained by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel along with a weapon near the international border in Jammu district of J&K on Friday.
The suspect, named Abdul Khalik, was captured in the Pargwal locality.
According to police sources, the intruder has been transferred to the Police Post Pargwal (under Police Station Khour) for further legal proceedings.
The Line of Control (LoC) in J&K stretches for 740 kilometers, while the international border extends for 240 kilometers.
The LoC is located in the Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts of the Kashmir Valley, and in Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of the Jammu district.
The international border is found in the Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts of the Jammu division.
The Indian Army is responsible for guarding the LoC, while the BSF secures the international border. Their primary role is to prevent infiltration, exfiltration, drug trafficking, and drone activities in the region.
Additionally, the J&K Police and security forces are stationed in the hinterland to conduct operations against terrorism and drug-related crimes, as well as illegal financial activities.
It is suspected that profits from these illegal operations contribute to the funding of terrorism in J&K.
The revised approach by law enforcement aims to dismantle the entire support network for terrorism rather than solely targeting armed terrorists.
Security forces are intensifying operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers.
Assets acquired through drug trafficking and terrorist activities are being seized following court orders, and a rigorous 24/7 surveillance is maintained in both border and hinterland areas in J&K after the suspension of Operation Sindoor.
