The Telangana government is making elaborate preparations for the State Formation Day celebrations on 2 June 2025, with the main official ceremony scheduled at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will lead the day's proceedings, beginning with a visit to Gun Park to pay homage to Telangana martyrs at the Martyrs' Memorial, before presiding over the main event.

High-Level Review Meeting Held

Vikas Raj, Special Chief Secretary to the State Government, on Tuesday chaired a review meeting with senior officials at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat to assess preparedness for the celebrations. He directed that a nodal officer be designated from each department to ensure effective inter-departmental coordination. Joint rehearsals at the Parade Grounds are scheduled to begin from 25 May.

Security, Traffic and Logistics Directives

The Police Department has been directed to provide security cover along all routes used by dignitaries. Officials were specifically instructed to prepare a traffic route map, arrange adequate parking at the Parade Grounds, and take all necessary precautions to prevent disruption to traffic flow. The Roads and Buildings Department has been tasked with erecting waterproof shamianas and barricades at the venue.

Infrastructure and Civic Arrangements

The Electricity Department has been asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply with backup generator facilities throughout the event. Prominent city landmarks — including the Assembly, the State Secretariat, Charminar, Praja Bhavan, and other government offices — will be illuminated with decorative lighting. Officials have also been directed to ensure proper sanitation and adequate drinking water arrangements at the venue and surrounding areas.

Cultural Performances and Live Telecast

The Department of Culture has been instructed to organise cultural performances featuring various artists to create a festive atmosphere. The Special Commissioner of the Information Department has been tasked with arranging a live telecast to ensure widespread public outreach for the State Formation Day celebrations.

The review meeting was attended by Special Chief Secretary Naveen Mittal, Principal Secretary (Home) Shikha Goel, Secretary Raghunandan Rao, Director General of Police (Law and Order) Mahesh Bhagwat, Additional Director General (Intelligence) Vijay Kumar, Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited Chairman and Managing Director Harish, Special Commissioner of Information and Public Relations Mukunda Reddy, Water Board Managing Director Ashok Reddy, and other senior police and departmental representatives. With all departments now working in coordinated mode, the state administration is expected to finalise all arrangements well ahead of the 2 June celebrations.
