Hyderabad, April 13 (NationPress) Telangana's Minister of Transport, Ponnam Prabhakar, announced on Monday that the potential merger of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation with the government is currently being reviewed by a committee.
He urged employees of the TGSRTC to refrain from striking, promising to listen to their grievances.
The minister confirmed that the government is open to discussing various issues, with the exception of two outstanding matters, and assured that concerns related to employees will be addressed.
He also noted that the overdue Dearness Allowance (DA) has been disbursed, while the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) is still under consideration.
Prabhakar spoke to reporters following the launch of the road safety initiative “Arrive Alive” at the Khairatabad Transport Department office, part of the Praja Palana Pragathi movement.
A joint campaign titled “Arrive Alive” will be executed by both the Police and Transport Departments from April 13 to April 18 to enhance road safety. This initiative aims to pinpoint the reasons behind road accidents, raise awareness of traffic regulations, and implement strategies to minimize accidents.
The Transport Department is also committed to environmental conservation and will rigorously enforce traffic laws.
The minister indicated that departmental evaluations will take place across all districts over a span of six days, emphasizing that the main goal of the program is to prevent accidents and save lives.
He highlighted that individuals who assist road accident victims by taking them to hospitals within the critical “golden hour” will qualify for the Rah-veer award.
Additionally, reforms such as eliminating checkpoints have been initiated. Efforts will also be made to educate school students about traffic regulations.
The department plans to recognize RTC drivers who achieve 30 years of service without any accidents.
Prabhakar instructed officials to arrange road safety meetings in every district.
