Telangana Set to Roll Out Rythu Bharosa Post Sankranthi: Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, Dec 1 (NationPress) The Congress-led government in Telangana is poised to honor a crucial pledge with the rollout of the Rythu Bharosa initiative after the Sankranthi festival, as declared by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during a press briefing on Sunday.

During the news conference, he mentioned that the financial support provided under this scheme will be deposited into the bank accounts of farmers following the festival.

He urged citizens not to fall for the misinformation spread by opposition parties, asserting that Rythu Bharosa is a commitment made by Sonia Gandhi and will certainly be enacted.

Under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, the Congress party has pledged an annual financial aid of Rs.15,000 per acre for farmers, an increase from the Rs.10,000 currently offered under Rythu Bandhu, which was initiated by the former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government.

The Chief Minister indicated that the report from the Cabinet Sub-Committee, led by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, will be presented in the Assembly prior to finalizing the details for Rythu Bharosa.

Revanth Reddy emphasized that the Congress would deliver on this promise just as it fulfilled the commitment to waive crop loans up to Rs.2 lakh.

He noted that at the formation of Telangana state on June 2, 2014, the state had a surplus budget of Rs 16,000 crore, with debts standing at only Rs 69,000 crore. However, after a decade under the BRS, the debt has ballooned to Rs 7.5 lakh crore, with the state now repaying Rs 6,500 crore monthly.

He recalled that following the Congress's victory on December 7, 2023, the government presented a white paper in the Assembly regarding the state’s financial condition to inform the public.

Despite inheriting a significant debt, the Congress government has aimed to provide effective governance and fulfill its pledges.

Immediately after taking office, his administration disbursed Rs.7,625 crore to farmers under Rythu Bandhu, which had been pending under the previous government.

He pointed out that the Congress government has successfully fulfilled its promise of waiving crop loans up to Rs.2 lakh, having so far waived Rs 20,616 crore in loans, benefiting 25.35 lakh farmers, claiming that no state government in independent India has accomplished such a large loan waiver in such a short timeframe.

He accused the BRS government of deceiving farmers for a decade regarding loan waivers, asserting that farmers have always been a top priority for the Congress party from the era of Jawaharlal Nehru to the present.

Revanth Reddy stated that the state government is aiding farmers through a loan waiver program, free electricity, subsidized fertilizers, minimum support prices, and an employment guarantee scheme.

He alleged that certain political factions are spreading falsehoods about the Rs 500 bonus provided by his government to farmers for high-quality paddy. He announced that the government has procured 31 lakh tonnes of paddy and that the bonus will extend into the next season.

He mentioned that high-quality rice grown in Telangana will be accessible to citizens through the public distribution system and will also be utilized to provide meals to students in welfare hostels.

In response to BJP's accusations regarding the Congress's failure to deliver on promises, Revanth Reddy expressed his readiness to debate the commitments made and fulfilled by Prime Minister Modi at the national level compared to those of the Congress in Telangana.

Challenging BJP's assertion of total prohibition in Gujarat, the Chief Minister stated he is prepared to travel to Gujarat to showcase the liquor brands available within the BJP's governance.
