KTR Accuses Telangana CM of Introducing 'Rahul Bandhu' Scheme to Divert Farmer Funds
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, March 9 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), claimed on Monday that Telangana's Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has effectively launched a new initiative named “Rahul Bandhu” by misappropriating funds originally allocated for farmers through the Rythu Bandhu program.
During a felicitation event for newly elected councillors in Sircilla, he stated that the Congress administration has repeatedly postponed and denied the Rythu Bandhu assistance that farmers rightfully deserve. KTR accused the Chief Minister of redirecting farmers’ funds to appease the Congress leadership.
KTR, a widely recognized BRS leader, noted that while farmers throughout the state are awaiting the anticipated assistance from Rythu Bandhu — which the Congress had pledged to augment — the state government has failed to disburse the funds.
He expressed that the government has already defaulted on payments for Rythu Bandhu on several occasions, once again delaying the initiative this season.
In jest about the Congress leadership, KTR remarked that the Chief Minister seems to have unveiled a new scheme named “Rahul Bandhu,” under which funds meant for Telangana farmers are being redirected to benefit Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. He alleged that approximately Rs 1,000 crore is annually being diverted for political favoritism instead of supporting the agricultural community.
KTR further accused the Chief Minister of prioritizing his political standing by catering to the Congress leadership in Delhi, often at the cost of Telangana’s farmers. He alleged that whenever the Congress high command seeks funds or political backing, the Chief Minister diverts public resources to maintain his position.
The BRS working president also criticized the Congress administration for its failure to deliver on electoral promises. He recalled that leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge had assured the people of Telangana that the six commitments promised by the Congress would receive legal backing within 100 days of taking office.
KTR emphasized that the Congress party secured power by making grand promises through various announcements, yet after assuming office, it has failed to uphold those commitments and has instead betrayed all segments of society.
He declared that the BRS plans to address this issue in the upcoming Assembly sessions and will propose a Private Member Bill demanding legal assurance for the six promises made by the Congress.
KTR stated that the aim of this bill would be to compel the government to legally guarantee the execution of the six commitments and ensure that Congress fulfills its promises to the people of Telangana. He added that Congress MLAs would have no choice but to support the bill, as it merely seeks to implement the public assurances made by their own leaders.
