Hyderabad, Jan 31 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, fiercely countered the statements made by K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), the President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), who threatened to take a strong stance against the Congress government.
Mocking KCR's threats, the Chief Minister suggested that the former leader should first learn to stand upright without relying on a support.
"Rather than making threats, KCR ought to focus on standing correctly. He appears to be preoccupied with his popularity on Twitter. It’s evident that KCR's fixation on social media likes reflects his mental state after serving as Chief Minister for a decade," he commented.
Revanth Reddy pointed out that KCR was retreating to a farmhouse, unable to confront the public following a significant electoral defeat.
While addressing a gathering in Mogiligidda village in Rangareddy district, Reddy urged KCR to cease his irrelevant talks from the farmhouse and instead engage in Assembly discussions. "KCR claims that crop loans remain unpaid. If he is genuine, he should attend the Assembly. I am prepared to disclose all information regarding the crop loans that have been waived," he stated.
He accused the BRS, during its decade-long governance, of transforming a revenue-surplus state into a debt-ridden one, noting that the Congress government inherited an astounding Rs 7 lakh crore in debts as of 2023.
Regarding KCR's assertion that the government may not carry out Rythu Bharosa, Revanth Reddy asserted that he is not like KCR, who has a pattern of reneging on promises such as those made regarding Dalit Chief Ministers, land allocations for Dalits, and double-bedroom housing schemes.
He remarked that the KCR administration only waived Rs 18,000 crore of farm loans from 2014 to December 2023, with merely Rs 3,000 crore of outstanding debts being settled, as most funds were allocated for interest payments on loans. In contrast, he claimed that the Congress government waived Rs 21,000 crores in farm loans within a single year.
“KCR resembles a demonetised Rs 1,000 note—devoid of value. By isolating himself in a farmhouse, he has lost touch with the populace. Even after being rejected by the electorate, the BRS remains unchanged,” asserted the Chief Minister.
He further contended that the Congress government provided more employment opportunities in one year than the BRS had in its entire 10-year tenure.
Reddy challenged KCR’s claims about the suffering of the populace under Congress governance, stating that the government had waived crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh, offered free bus travel for women, expanded Arogyasri coverage to Rs 10 lakh, and executed fee reimbursement and Rythu Bharosa initiatives.
