Mumbai, Oct 27 (NationPress) Shiv Sena-UBT leader and former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray raised concerns regarding "vote theft" and urged party members to adopt a "my responsibility is my list (voter list)" mindset in preparation for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
During the party's Nirdhar rally, Aaditya Thackeray encouraged workers to scrutinize for duplicate names, deceased voters, incorrect images, addresses, and multiple entries from identical locations. He asserted that the voters’ list is fraudulent and called on party supporters to expose this “scam”, deter bogus voting, and engage in a resolute battle to secure victory in the BMC elections.
He called on Vibhag Pramukhs, Shakha Pramukhs, and Up-Shakha Pramukhs to play a role in the party’s success. Aaditya also announced that opposition and allied parties would conduct a march in Mumbai on November 1 to shed light on “vote theft” and irregularities in electoral rolls. “We must halt the scams within the voters’ list; otherwise, the outcomes will be altered due to fraudulent voting,” he cautioned.
Aaditya presented on alleged voter irregularities, titled ‘Bogus Sarkar’s Bogus Voters’, echoing Rahul Gandhi’s previous campaign. He claimed incidents of bogus voting had transpired even in his own Worli constituency. He stated he meticulously examined the Mumbai and Worli voter lists and uncovered “huge discrepancies”, pledging to combat vote theft ahead of the BMC elections.
“The number of voters in the Worli assembly constituency rose from 2,52,970 in the Lok Sabha to 2,63,352 in the Assembly, with 16,043 new voters added and 5,661 removed,” he claimed, making a “sensational claim” of 19,333 voters presenting anomalies.
“Vote theft everywhere signifies election theft. It was anticipated that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government would prevail in the Assembly elections, but this scam went undetected at that time. The election will not be contested solely through campaigning, but with the voters’ list in hand. Everyone must diligently review the list,” he stressed.
He pointed out that there were issues with 22,000–23,000 names in Worli alone, warning that the total could reach into the lakhs across Mumbai. He further alleged that since the Election Commission is “working for the BJP”, party members must stay vigilant. Aaditya stated, “502 voters were found with identical names and father’s names. There were 720 voters whose father is Patel with a voter named Mhatre. There were 643 registered as male for women. There were 28 voters without EPIC numbers and 133 voters with the same EPIC.”
He cited instances where the same individual held multiple EPIC numbers. He claimed that one Narhari Kulkarni was “declared dead in the Lok Sabha but returned in the Assembly and voted.” He humorously noted, “There are 113 voters over 100 years old in Worli. If you want to live longer, come to Worli!”
Aaditya alleged that deceased voters remained on the rolls and “must have voted.” After the Assembly elections, 1,200 voters were removed, but he suspects they had already participated in voting. He highlighted various discrepancies, noting many photos were absent, voter cards were presented in three languages, and numerous inconsistencies were documented on video.
“There were over 4,000 voters without an address. There were 214 houses showing 38 voters in a small house. Additionally, 48 voters were registered in the Ghasitram Halwai shop.” he alleged.
