Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Shiv Sena UBT has hinted that it intends to participate in the forthcoming elections for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the guidance of party leader and former minister Aaditya Thackeray, marking a significant generational transformation within the party.
Aaditya delivered his inaugural solo address to the party's office bearers on Tuesday, emphasizing the party's accomplishments in the BMC.
He urged party members to engage with voters by highlighting a variety of initiatives undertaken in Mumbai during their tenure in the BMC.
During a meeting at the party office in Worli, Aaditya Thackeray presented a detailed report on the BMC, which is perceived as the kickoff of the party's electoral campaign.
"It's time to put an end to the vote thieves, note thieves, and credit thieves. We must stop those who have harmed Mumbai. It's time to claim the credit for our achievements. We are committed to preserving Mumbai for its residents," he declared.
The theme for this election, "Karun Dakhvala, te Abhimanane Sanguya" (We did it, let's express this with pride), was announced by Aaditya, who showcased the party's milestones in the BMC since its inception in 1997.
"We transformed the BMC from a deficit of Rs 650 crore in 1997 to fixed deposits of Rs 92,000 crore in 2022," Aaditya Thackeray noted, reflecting on BMC's achievements in education, health, transportation, and water supply.
He invited all former mayors of Mumbai to the stage as a gesture of appreciation for their contributions to the city.
On the topic of road construction in Mumbai, Aaditya Thackeray pointed out that the city's roads are in poor condition due to a lack of work and inaction under the administrator.
"I share this with you because these are our successes, and we must communicate them proudly to the public. We need to vocalize our accomplishments," he stated.
Aaditya Thackeray consistently claimed credit for developmental projects like the coastal road, urging attendees to refute any claims by the BJP regarding ownership of the project.
Displaying images from the project's inception, Thackeray remarked, "Do you spot Fadnavis in this photo? Perhaps he is hiding somewhere."
