Chennai, Oct 14 (NationPress) The president of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and Chidambaram MP Thol Thirumavalavan met with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the Secretariat on Tuesday, urging the swift appointment of teachers who have successfully cleared recruitment examinations, as well as the introduction of a new law to promote inter-caste marriages.
Thirumavalavan expressed his party's strong support for the state government’s recent initiative to eliminate caste-based names from public spaces, describing it as a monumental step that reaffirms Tamil Nadu's dedication to social justice.
“Our policy decision is unequivocal - there should be no caste names moving forward. The government's decision showcases the social reform legacy of Periyar and Ambedkar,” he stated following the meeting.
He urged the Chief Minister to promptly appoint thousands of teaching aspirants who have passed eligibility tests but are still awaiting postings.
