Jammu, April 4 (NationPress) Three individuals have been apprehended for their participation in a daylight robbery at a jewellery store in the Greater Kailash area of Jammu city that occurred in February of this year, according to police reports released on Friday.

The trio, which includes a lawyer, admitted during police interrogation that their actions were influenced by a gold heist that took place in Delhi's Samaypur Badli in 2023, as stated by law enforcement.

Among those arrested is the alleged mastermind, lawyer Rahul Sharma from Lower Kana, Bishnah. The other two suspects have been identified as Sunil Sharma, 26, and Tushar Kumar, 22, who executed the robbery.

SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, informed reporters that police have effectively resolved the shocking case of the jewellery shop robbery in Greater Kailash, ensuring that justice is served with the arrest of three individuals, including a lawyer.

On February 1, two armed assailants entered Anand Jewellers in Greater Kailash and threatened the sole female shop owner with a knife.

The robbers stole gold jewellery and cash amounting to lakhs of rupees, along with a mobile phone, before escaping the scene. A case was filed at the Gangyal police station, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by SP (city south) was formed. Their technology-driven and intelligence-based tactics led to the identification and arrest of the suspects, the police reported.

Some of the stolen gold jewellery has also been recovered from the suspects.

Authorities urged shopkeepers to minimize the visibility of valuable jewellery and to report any suspicious activities by dialing 100 or alerting the nearest police station.

In a subsequent incident following the Greater Kailash robbery, thieves broke into another shop in the city, making off with cash left in the cash box by the shopkeeper.

With the resolution of the jewellery robbery case, there is hope that other unresolved thefts will soon be addressed.
