Patna, Feb 10 (NationPress) Bihar Police has apprehended two major suspects, including the mastermind, linked to the Jiva Jewellery Shop robbery on Monday.
The audacious daytime robbery took place 11 days earlier near Saguna Mor within the Danapur police station's area, sending shockwaves across the state.
ASP Bhanu Pratap Singh of the Danapur sub-division confirmed the arrests, stating, “The Special Investigation Team (SIT), established under the guidance of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), successfully captured Rohit Kumar and Akash Kumar alias Suraj in Bhojpur.”
“The investigation revealed that Rohit Kumar, a resident of Narayanpur village in Bhojpur, was the primary architect of the robbery. Akash Kumar alias Suraj played a supporting role in carrying out the crime,” Singh elaborated.
“Both individuals have confessed to their participation in the heist,” Singh noted.
Previously, the SIT had taken into custody two women, Aarti Kumari and Sarita Devi, also from Bhojpur, recovering stolen items. Authorities confiscated 31 pieces of gold and diamond jewellery from the women.
Earlier, police recovered diamond ornaments valued at Rs 40 lakh and gold jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh from the suspects.
Following the arrests of the mastermind and his aides, Patna Police is now concentrating on recovering more stolen items and identifying further suspects involved in the incident.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) that solved the case included Danapur Police Station SHO Prashant Kumar Bhardwaj, Sub Inspectors Chunmun Kumar and Arun Kumar-1, along with three constables Sudhanshu Kumar, Vibhuti Singh, and Shambhu Kumar.
The robbery took place on January 31, 2025, at the Jiva Jewellery Shop near Saguna Mor. CCTV footage from the store captured six robbers inside, prompting a state-wide manhunt.
