Patna, Feb 10 (NationPress) Bihar Police has successfully detained two significant suspects, including the mastermind, related to the Jiva Jewellery Shop heist on Monday.
The audacious robbery took place in broad daylight 11 days earlier near Saguna Mor, under the jurisdiction of the Danapur police station, and it caused quite the stir in the state.
ASP Bhanu Pratap Singh from the Danapur sub-division confirmed the apprehensions, stating, “The Special Investigation Team (SIT), established on the orders of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), effectively captured Rohit Kumar and Akash Kumar alias Suraj in Bhojpur.”
“Investigations revealed that the mastermind of the robbery was Rohit Kumar, hailing from Narayanpur village in Bhojpur. He was the primary planner of the heist, while Akash Kumar alias Suraj assisted in carrying out the crime,” Singh stated.
“Both suspects have confessed to their participation in the robbery,” Singh added.
Previously, the SIT had taken into custody two women, Aarti Kumari and Sarita Devi, also from Bhojpur, and recovered stolen items. Authorities seized 31 pieces of gold and diamond jewellery from the arrested women.
The police had earlier retrieved diamond ornaments valued at Rs 40 lakh and gold jewellery amounting to Rs 10 lakh from the suspects.
With the apprehension of the mastermind and his accomplices, the Patna Police is now concentrating on recovering more stolen valuables and pinpointing additional suspects involved in the crime.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) responsible for cracking the case comprised Danapur Police Station SHO Prashant Kumar Bhardwaj, Sub Inspectors Chunmun Kumar and Arun Kumar-1, along with three constables Sudhanshu Kumar, Vibhuti Singh, and Shambhu Kumar.
The heist transpired on January 31, 2025, at Jiva Jewellery Shop near Saguna Mor. CCTV footage from the establishment depicted six robbers inside the shop, prompting a state-wide manhunt.
