Patna, March 9 (NationPress) Recent armed robbery incidents in Bihar have raised significant security concerns following the thefts of merchandise in Siwan and Samastipur on Monday. In the first case, a gang of approximately six masked individuals executed a daring heist at a jewelry store in the Basantpur market of Siwan district.
The police reported that the assailants entered Arun Jewellers and Utensils Store wielding weapons, threatening the shopkeeper at gunpoint.
They made off with gold and silver jewelry valued at nearly Rs 25 lakh before disappearing from the scene.
This incident took place alarmingly close to the Basantpur police station, prompting serious questions about the effectiveness of security measures in the vicinity.
Upon notification, officers from the Basantpur police station arrived to commence an investigation.
Puran Kumar Jha, the Superintendent of Police for Siwan, also visited the site to assess the situation.
“Our teams are currently reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding cameras to pinpoint the suspects. We are working diligently to track down the criminals, and we are confident they will be apprehended soon,” Jha stated.
In a separate incident in Samastipur, thieves executed a robbery in broad daylight near Bahadur Model Inter School located in the Nagar police station area.
According to law enforcement, three to four masked robbers stormed into a shop named Rahul Enterprises in the Bahadurpur neighborhood, taking a zarda businessman and customers hostage at gunpoint.
The criminals reportedly stole around Rs 4.5 lakh in cash from the businessman, as well as robbing a customer present in the shop, before fleeing the scene.
Police later arrived and initiated an investigation.
They are currently analyzing CCTV footage from the shop and nearby areas to identify the suspects.
Following these alarming occurrences, residents have voiced their fears regarding the brazen behavior of criminals and have questioned the effectiveness of police arrangements, particularly in instances where crimes have taken place in crowded public areas and during daylight hours.
Law enforcement officials in both districts have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and expressed optimism that the culprits will soon be identified and caught.
