Quetta, Oct 7 (NationPress) In a shocking incident, three Baloch civilians, including a woman, have fallen prey to enforced disappearances, amidst widespread property destruction and severe human rights violations by the Pakistani Army in the Zehri region of Balochistan, as reported by the Baloch Women Forum (BWF) on Tuesday.
The BWF pointed out that the town of Zehri in the Khuzdar district has recently experienced horrific human rights abuses, highlighted by the enforced disappearance of Safia Bibi, along with Asad Zehri and Zahid Aziz. There are growing concerns regarding additional undisclosed disappearances.
Expressing their outrage, the forum insisted that Safia's unlawful detention will lead to escalating chaos. The BWF stressed that such acts not only breach Baloch traditions but also directly contradict Islamic principles regarding the wrongful confinement of women in undisclosed places.
“The town has been completely cut off from the outside world, turning it into an information void. Continuous bombardment, shelling, mass destruction of property, killings, and abductions—reportedly involving law enforcement—have rendered it a living hell for the indigenous population,” the BWF stated.
The forum called for accountability and the immediate cessation of Pakistan's institutional actions that disrupt peace in the town, demanding an urgent ceasefire.
“We have repeatedly voiced our concerns regarding the anti-human rights agenda against the Baloch nation, particularly targeting women. Yet, state authorities appear to be deceiving the world about the realities in Balochistan while denying the fundamental rights of its indigenous residents,” the BWF commented.
They further questioned the circumstances surrounding Safia's forced disappearance and demanded her immediate and unconditional recovery, alongside accountability for those responsible.
According to the BWF, the community is also suffering significant losses, including the destruction of homes through direct bombardment, devastation of ripe crops, disruption of communication systems, and suspension of the basic right to free movement and safety, confining residents to their homes.
“We believe such actions reflect a military-driven strategy against the Baloch people, which we categorically reject and will resist. We demand a return to normalcy in Zehri, compensation for the losses incurred due to state-imposed brutality, and an end to all actions in Zehri that infringe upon the rights of its people,” the BWF emphasized.
