Chennai, Dec 21 (NationPress) In a robust response to long-time BJP figure H. Raja’s critique of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, as well as his depiction of the minister in the newly released film 'Kandhan Malai', Tamil Nadu HR&CE Minister P.K. Sekarbabu stated on Sunday that a government dedicated to ongoing development and public welfare cannot be undermined by “irrelevant political forces”.
Sekarbabu shared his comments with journalists following a review of various projects underway in North Chennai under the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA).
He highlighted that the urban and social infrastructure objectives for the area are being implemented in strict alignment with the vision set forth by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
The minister elaborated on significant projects, including a 770-unit residential complex in Stanley Nagar that is nearing completion. This complex will feature modern amenities such as a park, library, study center, and elevators, with an inauguration planned for January 20.
He elaborated that the North Chennai Development Plan aims to transform historically overlooked areas into well-equipped, livable environments with enhanced housing, roadways, and recreational facilities.
When addressing H. Raja’s allegations and his political commentary through 'Kandhan Malai', Sekarbabu dismissed the criticisms as not worthy of serious consideration. “Why bring up that nonsense again and again? A person who acted in a film not even fit for theatrical release does not deserve such attention,” he stated, accusing Raja of seeking political advantage through sensationalism rather than engaging in constructive discourse.
Refuting claims of religious bias in temple management, the minister insisted that the HR&CE department operates without consideration of religious identity or personal beliefs. “I do not know the religion of the IAS officers working with me, nor do I know the religion of any journalist here. The malicious forces trying to divide people on religious lines will never succeed in Tamil Nadu,” he affirmed.
Highlighting the government’s achievements in temple development, Sekarbabu mentioned that consecration ceremonies are being planned for nearly 4,000 temples, while advanced restoration and structural lifting techniques are ongoing at 24 temple sites.
He asserted that the current government’s efforts for temples and devotees are unmatched. “A government that performs wonders every day and brings joy to devotees cannot be shaken by political non-entities,” he concluded.
Sekarbabu also inspected a new exhibition complex being constructed at Island Grounds and a multi-storey housing project near Stanley Hospital, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to sustained development in North Chennai.
