New Delhi, Nov 10 (NationPress) The lifeless body of a 23-year-old woman hailing from Manipur was discovered in her rented accommodation in the Mahipalpur district of Delhi. Authorities suspect her demise was due to electrocution while utilizing an electric rod heater in the bathroom.
The Delhi Police reported that the victim, employed at a software firm in Gurugram, was in the process of preparing for a party when the tragic incident transpired on Sunday. She had been residing in her fourth-floor room for several months.
At approximately 8:19 p.m. on Sunday, a PCR call was placed to the Vasant Kunj (South) Police Station regarding the woman found deceased in her locked room. Upon arrival, officers discovered her unresponsive in the bathroom, clutching an electric rod.
Initial investigations indicated that the woman had entered the bathroom to bathe and was heating water with the electric rod. When she did not emerge after a prolonged period, a concerned friend, residing in the same building, checked on her. After finding the bathroom door locked from the inside, she promptly called for help.
The crime scene team was summoned, and the area was thoroughly examined. The body was subsequently transported to the Safdarjung Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that this incident may be a case of electrocution, with no evidence of foul play detected thus far.
Shahil, the building caretaker, relayed to IANS, “The incident occurred in room number 403. I received a call from the victim's friend stating she was not responding and requested a duplicate key. The owner was unavailable, so I was instructed to create another key. Upon opening the door, we found her in the bathroom with the electric rod still in her hand. She moved here in June and worked in Gurugram.”
The investigation is ongoing.
