Ayodhya, Sep 18 (NationPress) In a significant stride towards enhancing public sanitation standards, Sulabh International has launched cutting-edge toilet facilities at over 100 locations throughout Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Spanning from Dharampath to Rampath, these advanced restrooms are setting a new standard for cleanliness and convenience.

Each facility is outfitted with air conditioning, CCTV surveillance, hand dryers, and sanitary pad dispensers, significantly enhancing the experience for both tourists and locals visiting this sacred city.

This initiative has garnered acclaim for its innovation, upkeep, and alignment with national cleanliness initiatives.

Local resident Parveen Kumar Singh expressed, "These Sulabh International toilets are truly impressive. The level of cleanliness is outstanding. There are two cleaners present here, ensuring all essential amenities are available."

Caregivers like Mukesh Kumar Singh are dedicated to maintaining operations daily.

"We oversee 90 toilets in Ayodhya, all equipped with ACs, CCTV systems, and hand dryers. Cleanliness is our utmost priority," he noted.

Another caretaker, Sunil Kumar Jha, added, "These toilets are extremely well-kept. Assistance is always on hand for anyone experiencing issues. Both hygiene and service are top-notch."

This project is part of the broader Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, India's largest cleanliness initiative spearheaded by the Union Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Launched in 2014, the campaign saw a major boost when the Prime Minister led a historic cleanliness oath at India Gate in Delhi, with nearly 30 lakh government employees joining nationwide.

As part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2025, a nationwide voluntary campaign titled "Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath" is scheduled for September 25, encouraging citizens to dedicate an hour of 'shramdaan' to cleanliness efforts.

The Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), initiated on October 2, 2014, aims to eradicate open defecation in rural India.

By October 2, 2019, sanitation coverage surged from 39 percent to 100 percent, with over 10 crore individual household toilets constructed. All villages declared themselves Open Defecation Free.

Following the success of Phase I, Phase II of the SBM(G) commenced in April 2020.

This phase emphasizes sustainability and effective waste management to transition from ODF to ODF Plus villages.

By March 17, 2025, out of 586,788 villages in the country, 564,096 have claimed ODF Plus status, with more than 500,000 villages now equipped with proper solid and liquid waste management systems.
