Agartala, July 11 (NationPress) A Tripura court has placed a 35-year-old Bangladeshi woman and her Indian partner into 14-day judicial custody following their arrest in the Sepahijala district, as per officials' statements on Friday.
According to a police representative, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended the Bangladeshi woman alongside her partner, Datta Yadav, in Kamthana on Thursday afternoon, acting on a tip-off. They were subsequently transferred to the Tripura Police at Madhupur.
The couple appeared before a local court, which ordered their judicial custody for a duration of 14 days.
As reported by police, the woman had previously been employed at a beauty parlour and a private company in Mumbai and Bengaluru, where she developed feelings for Yadav, a resident of Bidar district in Karnataka.
Yadav, who works as a contractor in Karnataka, had traveled to Tripura to bring the woman back to Bengaluru. However, she had entered Tripura illegally from Bangladesh just two days prior, lacking a passport or visa.
"During her time in Bengaluru, she fell in love with Yadav. She recently returned to Bangladesh and then illegally entered Tripura to be with him, intending to return together to Bengaluru," the police official elaborated.
The woman hails from Bogura (Bogra) district in Bangladesh.
After reuniting, the couple stayed at the residence of an Indian national in Madhupur village and were planning their journey back to Bengaluru when they were apprehended, the official noted.
Law enforcement has initiated specific cases under the Passports Act, the Foreigners Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The authorities indicated that all individuals involved in the case will be detained.
