Mumbai, June 30 (NationPress) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray asserted on Monday that the imposition of the Hindi language is no longer acceptable, as the strength of the Marathi people has led the state government to revoke two resolutions aimed at introducing Hindi alongside Marathi and English for students in Classes 1 to 5.
Thackeray, who participated in the inaugural day of the Monsoon Session of the state legislature, stated, “In the next two to three days, we will reveal the details of our victory rally scheduled for July 5, following the cancellation of the joint morcha due to the government’s decision. We are in discussions with various parties regarding this. The Marathi traitors emerge whenever they sense a slight disunity among us. Just yesterday, we dealt a significant blow to this faction. To prevent their resurgence, it is crucial to uphold our unity rather than wait for another crisis. We are determined to forge a vision of solidarity by July 5. A celebration of our victory is on the horizon. Everyone set aside their political differences to join us during this movement, and we must manifest that same unity in the victory march.”
“Affection for our mother tongue transcends political affiliations. Despite the government's numerous attempts, I still express my gratitude to them. A new committee has been established under the leadership of Narendra Jadhav, a former Planning Commission member. I urge the government to recognize that this pertains to education, and yet they have appointed an economist to this committee. Regardless of the committee's formation, the era of imposing Hindi has concluded. The might of the Marathi people has made this clear,” Thackeray emphasized during a press conference.
He mentioned that the slogan 'Jai Maharashtra' has been revived in every village and locality across Maharashtra.
“The Shiv Sena and its supporters have been pivotal in championing this slogan for Maharashtra. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all political factions and Marathi-speaking individuals who put aside their differences to participate. In the coming days, we will discern whether the government has acted wisely. Their immediate withdrawal of the resolution mandating Hindi is a testament to the unity of the Marathi populace. Had they not cancelled it, numerous Marathi enthusiasts from the BJP, Shinde group, and Ajit Pawar group would have taken part in the July 5 morcha, which is now set to transform into a victory rally,” he added.
On Sunday, Thackeray remarked that the government's authority faltered against the strength of the Marathi Manoos regarding the controversial proposal to introduce Hindi as a third language alongside Marathi and English for young learners. “This unity among Marathi people must persist,” Thackeray asserted.
“The BJP had a hidden agenda to sow discord among the Marathi community and appeal to non-Marathi voters by igniting the Marathi vs Non-Marathi debate. The silver lining is that the Marathi populace has adopted a sensible stance. They are not opposed to the Hindi language but rather to its coercive implementation. Thanks to the movement against such compulsion, there has been no division. The government believed that splitting the Marathi community would serve its interests,” Thackeray stated.
