New Delhi, Feb 10 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar remarked on Monday that overseeing the ‘ocean of humanity’ at the Maha Kumbh 2025 constitutes a ‘Herculean task’, and the state police is demonstrating an unparalleled commitment to managing the influx of devotees.
“Supervising this ocean of humanity is indeed a Herculean challenge. Every police officer on duty is showcasing unmatched dedication to ensure that Maha Kumbh 2025 is a safe and smooth experience for all,” stated the DGP.
DGP Kumar highlighted that the event is experiencing the largest assembly of humans in history, noting that over 40 crore pilgrims have already taken a sacred dip at the Sangam, with millions arriving daily. Managing this unprecedented flow of people and vehicles presents a challenge that no city, administration, or police force worldwide has encountered before.
“The immense scale of this spiritual gathering has stretched the infrastructure of Prayagraj beyond its limits, resulting in unavoidable traffic delays—not due to mismanagement, but because of the overwhelming number of devotees,” he explained.
DGP Kumar pointed out that despite these hurdles, UP Police personnel—from ground-level constables to senior officers—are working diligently to ensure smooth traffic flow, assist pilgrims, and uphold law and order with remarkable patience and expertise.
“There is no global precedent for what UP Police is currently managing. No city, nation, or police force has ever had to regulate such a vast gathering of individuals and vehicles in real-time,” he asserted.
The DGP further added that this endeavor transcends mere crowd management; it is history in the making.
“Under the dynamic leadership and close supervision of the Chief Minister, the strategic planning, instantaneous decision-making, and relentless execution by UP Police officers are establishing a global standard in managing large-scale human movements. Future generations will study this moment as a testament to discipline, determination, and duty,” he elaborated.
He noted that while criticism may circulate in media and social platforms, it is uplifting to see numerous video testimonials from pilgrims, including both everyday devotees and notable figures, who have commended the seamless organization, security, and support provided by UP Police and the administration.
“Their words of appreciation reflect the tremendous effort and commitment behind the scenes, ensuring that Maha Kumbh remains a sacred and well-structured spectacle despite the unimaginable scale,” he emphasized.
DGP Kumar mentioned that videos from Monday afternoon in Prayagraj city and the inter-district borders clearly demonstrate traffic moving almost smoothly again, a reassuring indication of UP Police’s unwavering efforts.
“Instead of solely concentrating on criticism, we should recognize the extraordinary perseverance of our police force, who are not just managing an event but are crafting history with their tireless service. I salute every police officer—the true unsung heroes—who are turning the impossible into reality, each day,” concluded the DGP.
