Washington, Nov 3 (NationPress) The Indian ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, organized a farewell gathering at India House for US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, wishing him well for his new role in New Delhi.

Notable attendees included Senator Jim Risch, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Representative Brian Mast, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Kwatra expressed his sentiments on X, stating, "I was privileged to host a farewell reception for Ambassador Sergio Gor at India House this evening. I wished him success for his role in New Delhi. I appreciate the presence of Senator Risch and Representative Mast, along with other friends from the administration who came to support this relationship."

Kwatra also congratulated Gor on his upcoming assignment, sharing on X, "Best wishes as you transition to your role in New Delhi. It was a delight to celebrate with you at the Kennedy Centre last night to mark this significant occasion."

Earlier in November, US President Donald Trump hosted Gor's swearing-in ceremony at the White House, where he was sworn in by Vice President JD Vance. Key figures from the Trump administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, attended the event.

During the ceremony, Trump mentioned he was close to finalizing a trade agreement with India, stating, "We are negotiating a deal with India, which is fundamentally different from past agreements… We are approaching a fair trade deal that benefits everyone."

Trump emphasized his strong rapport with Prime Minister Modi, describing India as one of America's most crucial international partnerships. He remarked, "I trust Sergio to bolster our vital strategic alliance with the Republic of India. This is significant. India is home to one of the world's oldest civilizations and the most populous nation... We share an exceptional relationship with Prime Minister Modi, and Sergio's friendly rapport with him will only strengthen that bond."

Trump characterized India as an "amazing country" and deemed it an essential economic and strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region.

Gor expressed gratitude to Trump for his nomination and pledged to further the India-US relationship, stating, "I have stood by your side for many years, and I will continue to do so. It is a profound honor, and I am eager to enhance the ties between our two nations."

Confirmed through a Senate vote in October, the 38-year-old Gor stands out as the youngest US ambassador to India. He is among Trump's closest aides, having served as the Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, responsible for vetting over 4,000 positions in the new administration.
