Earlier, on March 12, Lieutenant General Joel B Vowell, Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC), met with Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi in New Delhi. Their conversation focused on bolstering the defense collaboration between the two nations.
The talks were centered on regional security in the Indo-Pacific, improving interoperability through joint military exercises, and discovering new ways to enhance military-to-military cooperation across various domains.
“Lieutenant General Joel B Vowell, Deputy Commanding General of USARPAC, engaged with General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS, to explore avenues for further strengthening the India-US defense partnership,” the Indian Army's Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) announced on X.
“The discussions underscored the importance of regional security in the Indo-Pacific, enhancing interoperability through joint training exercises, and exploring new pathways for military cooperation across multiple operational domains. The meeting reaffirmed the growing strategic alignment and mutual commitment of both armies to tackle emerging security challenges,” it added.
Lieutenant General Vowell also engaged with Vice Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, addressing further cooperation opportunities between the two nations' armies. The dialogue revolved around regional security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific, enhancing military-to-military interactions, and improving interoperability through joint training and exercises.

The talks covered regional security dynamics, expanding military engagement, and enhancing interoperability through joint training and exercises. This interaction reflects the strengthening strategic partnership and shared commitment of the two armies to promote stability and security in the region,” said the ADGPI.
