Chennai, March 7 (NationPress) A.N.S. Prasad, the spokesperson for the Tamil Nadu chapter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has remarked that the temporary waiver from the United States permitting Indian refiners to access specific Russian crude shipments signifies the triumph of India's energy diplomacy under Prime Minister Modi.

This waiver, which was granted on March 6 for a duration of 30 days, allows Indian refiners to obtain stranded Russian crude supplies amidst global energy market disruptions caused by tensions in West Asia and the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Prasad emphasized that this development underscores India's rising strategic significance in global energy security and highlights the effectiveness of its multi-aligned foreign policy.

He stated that the situation strengthens India's role as a vital global ally and showcases the nation’s capacity to maintain balanced relationships with major powers while safeguarding its economic interests.

Prasad pointed out that India has actively followed a diversified energy procurement strategy, sourcing oil from various nations, including Russia, the United States, and countries in the Middle East.

"This waiver clearly illustrates that the world is recognizing India's independent stance on energy security. The government is dedicated to fulfilling the nation’s energy requirements without compromising national interests," Prasad stated.

The BJP spokesperson also contended that this decision counteracts criticisms from opposition entities, notably the Congress, which had previously questioned India’s choice to acquire discounted Russian crude amidst geopolitical tensions and evolving sanctions.

According to Prasad, India's diplomatic efforts have broadened cooperation in various areas, including defense, technology, and trade.

Prasad further criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other opposition members for allegedly attempting to cast India's oil procurement strategies in a negative light.
