Dehradun, March 10 (NationPress) Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Tuesday that the Uttarakhand Budget for 2026-27 is centered around fostering inclusive growth across various sectors, ensuring that government initiatives reach the most marginalized individuals.
In an interview with IANS, the Chief Minister highlighted that the budget prioritizes all demographics, including farmers, the underprivileged, youth, Scheduled Castes, and residents of border regions.
“This budget emphasizes the inclusive development of our state. Every group—be it farmers, the disadvantaged, youth, our Scheduled Castes, or those living near the borders—has been given priority,” Dhami stated.
He underscored the necessity for development to occur in all sectors and locales within the state.
“We must ensure growth across every sector, with each one performing optimally. Development in border areas is equally crucial, and it is essential that the advantages of government schemes reach even the last individual in line,” he remarked.
Dhami further expressed that the state aims for accelerated progress through innovation, the expansion of schemes, and timely completion of ongoing projects.
“Our state must advance rapidly. We need to further our innovation initiatives, broaden existing schemes, launch new projects, and ensure that those already in progress are completed on schedule,” he elaborated.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the budget also includes sufficient allocations for capital expenditure to prevent delays in development projects.
“Sufficient financial provisions have been made to guarantee that there are no deficiencies in capital spending, allowing for timely implementation of all initiatives,” he stated.
He also noted that the budget aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to make this decade pivotal for the state.
“This budget is crafted with the goal of transforming this decade into a defining era for Uttarakhand, reflecting the Prime Minister’s vision,” Dhami added.
Commenting on the disruptions in the Assembly, Dhami urged the Opposition to adopt a more constructive approach.
“Opposition parties should function as responsible critics and engage positively. We need meaningful dialogues regarding state issues, as both the ruling party and the Opposition collaboratively steer democracy. Cooperation is essential for our collective success,” he stated.
Regarding arrangements for the annual pilgrimage, the Chief Minister reassured that the Char Dham Yatra will proceed smoothly this year.
“All preparations for the Char Dham Yatra have been finalized, ensuring it will be conducted seamlessly,” Dhami confirmed.
The Rs 1.11 lakh crore budget for 2026-27 was unveiled on March 9 during the inaugural day of the Uttarakhand Assembly’s Budget Session.
When presenting the budget, Chief Minister Dhami stated it is based on the “GYAN” model, which emphasizes the welfare of the underprivileged, youth empowerment, support for farmers, and women’s empowerment, while simultaneously enhancing infrastructure, tourism, technology, and social welfare initiatives throughout the state.
