New Delhi, Nov 18 (NationPress) “Politics is ingrained in their essence, and their commitment to safeguarding the secular identity of our nation takes precedence over winning or losing elections,” remarked businessman Robert Vadra to IANS about the Gandhi siblings, Rahul and Priyanka, on Tuesday.
Vadra's comments regarding the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, prioritizing the nation over electoral setbacks are likely to provoke reactions from the BJP, especially in light of the fervent 'vote chori' campaign led by the Congress-backed Mahagathbandhan to rally public support during the Bihar elections.
The Congress party has consistently criticized the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the BJP, accusing them of distorting electoral rolls and conducting a ‘purge’ of voters through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), allegations that the latter has firmly denied.
Indeed, the Congress and the grand alliance launched a vigorous campaign focused on voter fraud ahead of the Bihar elections.
Vadra shared with IANS, “Rahul and Priyanka are dedicated to defending the principles of democracy; electoral victories and defeats do not hold much weight for them.”
“Having inherited wisdom from their predecessors, Rahul and Priyanka have experienced both triumphs and failures. Their focus is unwavering on the nation's advancement and maintaining India's secular status. Their passion for the country and its people is steadfast,” he articulated.
When asked if Rahul was 'unfit' for politics, Vadra responded directly, “If the Congress party had won, those same critics would have labeled Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister.”
He further asserted that if Bihar elections were conducted again using ballot papers, the outcomes would be drastically different from the current results.
It's worth noting that the Bihar election results have raised alarms for both the Congress and the Mahagathbandhan due to their significant defeat.
The NDA surpassed the 200-seat mark, while the grand alliance faced a total collapse, failing to secure even 35 seats in the 243-member Assembly.
