New Delhi, Aug 6 (NationPress) Senior BJP figure Jagdambika Pal has launched a fierce critique against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, accusing them of positioning themselves above the Supreme Court of India.
This statement follows Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi's strong rebuke of a recent comment from the apex court, which probed the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, regarding his contentious assertion that “China has taken Indian territory.”
In defense of her brother, Priyanka Gandhi remarked, “With all due respect to the esteemed judges of the Supreme Court, they have no authority to decide who a true Indian is.”
In an interview with IANS, Jagdambika Pal stated, “The manner in which Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has expressed herself suggests she is no longer merely criticizing the government. Previously, the Congress believed they were above the government and Parliament. Now, it appears they deem themselves superior to the Supreme Court as well.”
He proceeded to challenge Rahul Gandhi's original statement, asserting, “What he said not only misguides the public but also undermines our armed forces. I doubt any responsible citizen would endorse such comments.”
In response to recent occurrences in West Bengal, Pal condemned the violent assault on BJP leader and LoP in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, whose convoy was reportedly attacked on Tuesday in Cooch Behar during a protest march, with stones thrown at vehicles, shattering windows and inciting chaos.
Pal claimed this incident was yet another example of “state-sponsored violence.”
“The violence we witness in Bengal appears to have the state's support,” he asserted.
“When the Waqf Bill was passed, extensive violence erupted. A father and son were dragged from their residence and killed. People are being coerced to flee. Now, Suvendu Adhikari, who has central government protection, has been attacked. This clearly indicates state involvement,” he told IANS.
Adhikari, who was leading a rally to the district police superintendent's office to submit a memorandum regarding alleged assaults on BJP workers, encountered fierce resistance, reportedly from Trinamool Congress supporters.
Protesters not only obstructed the convoy's path but also waved black flags and chanted “Go Back” slogans.
A viral video from the scene captured the tense moment when a stone was hurled at one of the cars in the convoy, breaking its windowpane and escalating security concerns.
The BJP has demanded immediate action against the attackers and accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of orchestrating the assault to silence the Opposition's voice in the state.
