Ahmedabad, Jan 20 (NationPress) Vani Kapoor is set to begin her journey this week in the second leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour (WPG) Tour at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Tuesday. After not participating in the season opener, Vani, who achieved five victories last year and topped the WPG Order of Merit, will compete alongside other prominent players.
This week’s lineup features last week’s champion Jasmine Shekar, runner-up Ridhima Dilawari, Amandeep Drall, Sneha Singh, Heena Kang, Seher Atwal, Vidhatri Urs, and the newly turned pro, Saanvi Somu.
While Jasmine is eager for another title, Ridhima, who nearly clinched victory last week, will be looking to bounce back. Amandeep Drall aims to regain the form needed to return to the Ladies European Tour.
Saanvi, who has multiple second-place finishes in her amateur career, is in pursuit of her first triumph on the Hero WPG Tour.
The 40-player field includes seven amateurs, the most experienced being Zara Anand and Mahreen Bhatia, both of whom have displayed remarkable potential and are likely to transition to US College golf later this year.
Mahreen emerged victorious in the 15th and final leg of 2025 in NOIDA at the Jaypee Wishtown course, defeating top contender Vani Kapoor in the process. Zara Anand has come close to winning on two occasions but finished as runner-up at the Bangalore Golf Club and DLF GCC.
Last week’s victor, Jasmine, will tee off in the first pairing, which consists of two players, while Vani Kapoor will compete alongside Ravjot Dosanjh and Vidhatri Urs. Amandeep Drall and Ridhima Dilawari will be in the final group.
Jasmine kicked off the new season with a bang, winning the opening leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour 2026 at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club. The 20-year-old golfer from Bengaluru achieved a wire-to-wire victory, posting the week’s best score of 5-under 65, with no bogeys.
With rounds of 67-70-65, she concluded with a total of 8-under 202, winning by a margin of four strokes over Ridhima Dilawari (67). Jasmine held a one-shot lead after Day One, extended it to two after the second round, and further increased it to four by the end of the event. She was the only player to score par or better throughout all three days at the Par-70 course.
Jasmine earned a winner’s prize of Rs. 2.30 lakh from a total purse of Rs. 17 lakh. Ridhima took home Rs. 1.70 lakh, while third-place finisher Lavanya Jadon received Rs. 1.40 lakh.
This win marks Jasmine’s fourth victory on the WPG Tour since turning professional in 2023. She secured two wins in 2024, one in 2025, and has now commenced the 2026 season with a stellar performance. This victory reflects Jasmine’s consistent growth since her professional debut, finishing sixth in the Order of Merit in her rookie year of 2023, fifth in 2024, and third last year.
