Mumbai, Dec 7 (NationPress) Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has been transported to Udaipur by the Rajasthan police. Bhatt and his spouse, Shwetambari Bhatt, were apprehended following a complaint lodged by a doctor based in Udaipur, who claims he was swindled out of crores by the director under the guise of film production.
Reports indicate that Bhatt, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, and six other individuals are accused of cheating Dr Ajay Murdia, the founder of the Indira Group of Companies, of Rs 30 crore.
It is noteworthy that the police had previously issued summons to the six accused for the second time, requiring their presence by December 8.
According to the FIR, Dr Murdia stated that he met the filmmaker in April of the previous year, where they discussed a film project intended to honor Dr. Murdia’s deceased wife, Indira. The film was allegedly designed to pay homage to her life and her contributions in the area of infertility treatments.
The FIR further reveals that Dr Murdia was assured the film would yield profits of approximately Rs 200 crore.
In addition to the biopic mentioned, a separate project centered on a historical war narrative was also reportedly on the table.
Dr Murdia alleged that Bhatt guaranteed he would oversee all facets of film production.
The complaint, lodged at the Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur, accuses Bhatt and his associates of engaging in financial misconduct and making deceptive promises to the complainant.
